Different hues simulate certain moods and enhance your overall well-being

Sunlight is vital to our well-being, which is why there’s been a growing trend of using tunable LED fixtures to create more human-centric lighting. Tunable LEDs adjust their hues throughout the day to mimic sunlight. Natural light patterns help regulate your sleep cycle to fend off stress and depression, as we’ve previously discussed in the blog linked below.

As the days start getting shorter in the fall throughout New Englandfrom Westerly, RI to Hartford, CTit’s the perfect time to embrace a more health-conscious lighting solution. There are a variety of manufacturers that offer tunable lighting, but we recommend Lutron home lighting control for their wide range of fixtures and control options

But out of all their features, the one we want to highlight in this blog is their day/night conditional program. Rely on just one keypad in the kitchen, bedroom or living room to get the ideal lighting no matter the time of day. The space will illuminate differently using the same button, whether its 6 a.m. or 6 p.m. In this blog, we’ll show you how that feature plays out in a typical day.

6 a.m.

Sunrise is a reliable natural tool for waking up in the morning. Eventually, though, you’ll start having to wake up before the sunrise, and we know how jarring it is to have to get up in a pitch-black house. That's where tunable lighting helps out. Set your lights to a naturally fresh, blue hue of morning daylight that inspire activity and energize you for the rest of the day.

10 a.m.

The kids are off to school, and now its time for your alone time. If you press the button in the kitchen, you'll experience a whiter hue that elicits cleanliness and concentration. Read your favorite book at the kitchen island, catch up on some pending work items, or clean up the countertops to take advantage of this productivity-inducing lighting.

4 p.m.

Prepare the ideal lighting for the kids’ return from school with the same go-to keypad or smartphone app. Lights around 4 p.m. become a bit warmer with yellow hues that still encourage concentration while signaling the brain to start slowing down. Use this light for homework time before the family sits down for dinner.

6 p.m.

Eventually, you’ll want to take advantage of warmer orange hues as you prepare dinner. Now we're on full relaxation mode, a perfect counter to those blue smartphone screens that like to keep our brains going all day. This will help everyone settle in for a calm dinner and then maybe some TV time together as a family. Once you're done, use your home lighting control to start dimming the lights as everyone prepares for bed.

Everyone deserves lighting primed to improve their well-being. Take the first step to a better lifestyle by integrating Lutron home lighting control in your home. All you have to do is give us a call at (860) 875-2876 or fill out our contact form.
