A lighting control systems are more than just a luxury item; it is a lifestyle enhancement. While the aesthetic aspect may be the initial impression it imparts, a lighting control system also brings the benefits of convenience, security and energy savings.

Lutron RadioRA 2

RadioRA2 is another wireless system that is ideal for a retrofit solution, but also works well in new construction. RadioRA 2 works using its patented Clear Connect radio frequency technology, which does not rely on Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connectivity, assuring rock-solid operation. RadioRA 2 can cover everything from condos and apartments to homes up to about 7,500 square feet and everything in between. The system can support up to 200 individual devices, like keypads, dimmers and switches.

One great feature of RadioRA 2 is the ability to have up to five temperature sensors in the system that integrate with their wireless thermostats. Have you ever been in a home where the location of the thermostat on the wall totally upsets the aesthetic of a room? Separating temperature sensing from the thermostat allows more flexibility in where the thermostat goes both for convenience and looks. In the industry, we call that “wall clutter” and the more of that we can eliminate, the better your home will look.

In addition, the Radio RA2 system can also integrate Lutron’s motorized shades, garage door controls, ceiling fans, landscape lighting and much more. The system not only manages natural and electric light, but also can help keep a home at a comfortable temperature with intelligent management of climate, fan, and shade control.

Homeworks QS

Homeworks QS is Lutron’s most advanced residential lighting control system, which can provide wireless coverage for properties up to 50,000 square feet. However, you don’t need to have a compound in order to justify having a Homeworks QS system, as its scalability and adaptability makes it an ideal solution, especially in new construction.

Homeworks QS uses a combination of wired and wireless technology to meet the needs of the grandest houses. It can do everything the RadioRA 2 system can do and much more, including the ability for programmers to include day/night conditions and sequential programming  into your lighting. Through Lutron’s Connect Bridge and app, it adds remote access to your lighting, shades and thermostats and has convenient features like geofencing, which uses your smartphone location to trigger lights and scenes. When the system senses you are home when pulling into the garage, a “welcome” scene can turn on an array of lighting to greet you upon your arrival.

Other sophisticated capabilities of Homeworks QS includes voice control through all three major voice assistants; Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple’s Siri via Apple Homekit. It can also integrate popular smart thermostats from Nest and Honeywell, as well as whole home audio systems like Sonos and Autonomic.
